Miya Knights has over 20 years' experience as an author, journalist and publisher, research analyst and consultant, specializing in enterprise technology use in retail. She has spent this time covering and analysing the demands and challenges faced by retailers, alongside which technologies can best support their needs in addressing evermore complex consumer expectations and behaviors. She also has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of technology vendor market trends.
Miya most recently served as Head of Industry Insight for digital marketing technology provider, Eagle Eye Solutions, helping major retailers build best-in-class loyalty and promotions strategies. During this time she also co-authored a book with Tim Mason, Eagle Eye CEO and former deputy CEO of Tesco Plc, entitled Omnichannel Retail: How to build winning stores in the digital world, which was shortlisted for the 2020 Business Book of the Year Award in the Sales & Marketing category. Prior to joining Eagle Eye, she was Global Technology Research Director at Planet Retail, where she also co-authored the best-selling book, Amazon: How the World's Most Relentless Retailer will Continue to Revolutionize Commerce. She is currently working on a second edition of Amazon, which is due to published in 2021.
Miya began her research career as Senior Research Analyst with IDC Retail Insights, having edited Retail Technology magazine for 10 years, which she now also owns and publishes. She is consistently ranked as one of the top retail technology industry influencers, and has recently appeared on the BBC, Channel 4, ITN and Sky News, and has been quoted by Retail Week, Retail Touchpoints, The Grocer, RETHINK Retail, The Grocer and PaymentSource among many others, as well as regularly moderating, speaking at or keynoting industry events. She is also a Grocer Gold Awards judge and a member of the annual Digital Retail Innovations report Advisory Board.
Starting out as a journalist, Miya was retail correspondent at Computing and regularly contributed to many publications, including The Times, The Independent, Financial Times, E&T Magazine, TechWeekEurope UK, CIO UK, Computer Weekly, IT Pro, and Computing. She has a Masters Degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Oxford.
